Custom software development

Software built for your business, not adapted to it.

Most businesses end up running on software that nearly fits. You work around the gaps, you keep a spreadsheet beside it for the parts it cannot do, and you pay every month for the privilege.

We are an Australian custom software development company for the businesses no product fits. We map how the work actually moves, build exactly that, hand it over, and go away.

Scope

Any developer will tell you what they build. Here is where we stop.

Publishing the second list is the unusual part, and it is the reason the first one is worth anything. Projects go wrong when nobody says no early, and a fixed price only means something if the edges were agreed before the work started.

In scopeWe build this
Systems of recordClients, jobs, matters, patients, whatever you call them
Quoting and invoicingIncluding the chasing that follows, done for you
Scheduling and dispatchWho is doing what today, readable from a van
Stages and approvalsThe steps work actually moves through
PortalsSo clients stop emailing you for a status update
ReportingAnswering your questions rather than a vendor's
IntegrationsXero, MYOB, Stripe, email and calendars
Spreadsheet replacementIncluding Access databases past their end of life
Records, workflow, money and reporting
Out of scopeWe build around this
Trust accountingLegally regulated and audited. A category of software on its own
Award interpretationSCHADS alone is a product, not a feature
Government claimingNDIA bulk claim files, Medicare, DVA
Clinical recordsHealth privacy obligations we will not take lightly
Regulated engines are products, not features

Each of those needs a regulated engine underneath it, so we integrate instead. Your accounting stays in Xero. Your claiming stays with the system that already does it. We build the part nobody has built yet.

If your project genuinely needs one of them, we will tell you on the first call rather than take the job and run out of room halfway through. That conversation costs us a project occasionally. It has never once cost us a client.

The useful question

Not “do you need a CRM”. What does your business do all day?

A CRM is the most common shape this work takes, which is why the business is named after it. But naming the category first is how people end up buying software that answers a question they did not ask.

The better question is which part of your day is currently held together by a spreadsheet, a group chat and somebody’s memory. That is almost always where the money is leaking, and it is almost never the part a product was built for.

Common questions

The things people ask on the first call.

What does custom software development actually cost in Australia?

Australian development agencies publish $15,000 to $75,000, with $25,000 to $45,000 typical for a small or medium business build. Those are their own published figures, checked 16 August 2026. We run $5,000 for Basic, $9,000 for Premium and from $18,000 for Complex, which is deliberately below that floor. The price is fixed before anything is built.

How long does a custom build take?

A Basic build is usually four to six weeks from the map being signed off. Premium runs six to ten. Complex depends entirely on how many systems it has to talk to, and we will not quote a date on the first call because a date given before the map is a guess.

Do I own the software when it is finished?

Yes, and that is the entire point. The code is yours, the data is yours, and it runs on your own hosting account rather than ours. There is no per-seat licence and nothing to renew. If you never speak to us again it keeps running.

What happens when I need a change later?

Changes get collected and done in a batch rather than billed monthly. There is no retainer, because a monthly fee for software you already own is the thing we are arguing against.

Are you a software development agency or a product company?

An agency, in the sense that we build to order rather than sell a product. We are a venture of Webstallion, an Australian web and software studio based in Macquarie Park in Sydney, and we work with businesses across Australia remotely.

What if a product already exists that does what I need?

Then buy it, and we will tell you so. If ServiceM8 at $79 a month covers your business, a $9,000 build takes ninety-five years to pay for itself and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Bespoke makes sense when your software bill is already large and scaling with headcount, or when nothing on the market fits how you actually work.

Bring your worst spreadsheet.

A discovery call runs about thirty minutes. We map how you actually work, tell you honestly whether a bespoke build is worth it for a business your size, and add up what you would stop paying.
